to apply for the job
At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. We are approximately 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!
We are strengthening our finance function and are therefore looking for a department economist for the office at the Digitalization and Development Department.
The Digitalization and Development Department creates conditions to increase the quality, efficiency, and service of the operations.
We do this, among other things, by setting goals for and developing the agency's main processes: Asylum, Service, and Permits.
We contribute to effective operational development by offering methods and support for this and by keeping the development process together. One part of this work is to support the operations in establishing a process-oriented working method.
Our tasks also include being responsible for IT governance and IT operations, including information management. Our focus is to drive the development of the Swedish Migration Agency through process management, innovation, and digitalization.
This is what a department economist does with us
The main task is to directly and indirectly support the department's managers and leadership in budget and forecasting work and to participate in the preparation of monthly follow-ups and forecasts. Currently, there are about 30 managers, but we will increase the number of employees and managers in the coming years.
You will also work with cost calculations and financing as well as providing input for forecasts.
Depending on your skills, training initiatives, analytical work, staffing planning, and dissemination of information, as well as providing advice and support in financial matters to other parts of the organization may occur.
Other financial tasks such as reconciliations and quality assurance of the department's accounting, financial administrative routines and regulations, and financial parts of the annual report will also occur.
You will work in a team with other economists and controllers who support the department and closely with our other department economist. In the long run, the idea is to be able to cover for each other in certain areas.
We use the financial system Unit4 ERP and the electronic invoice flow is managed in Proceedo.
We are looking for you who
We are looking for someone who is analytical, understands numerical data, and can break down problems into components to solve complex challenges while keeping an eye on the big picture. You also need to be communicative, structured, and meticulous.
Furthermore, you are well aware of goals and quality standards and are driven to achieve results together with others. You are accommodating and helpful in your approach while standing up for your issues.
In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
You who apply have
- A university degree in economics or equivalent education combined with relevant experience for the role.
- One year of relevant work experience
- Experience in cost calculations and forecasting in Excel
- Good communication skills and express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
